The Orlando Neuropathy Project Approach
|
Diagnostic Testing
To diagnose peripheral neuropathy, you will need to do a neurological evaluation. This consists of a number of simple, painless tests. Depending on your symptoms in addition to the results of your neurological evaluation, it may be suggested that other tests that can determine what type of peripheral neuropathy you have be performed.
These tests include Electrodiagnostic Testing, Electromyography (EMG), Nerve Conduction Velocity (NCV) Test, Quantitative Sensory Testing (QST), Autonomic Testing, Quantitative Sudomotor Axon Reflex Test (QSART), Nerve / Skin / Muscle / Tissue Biopsy, Lumbar Puncture (Spinal Tap), Imaging, Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), CAT Scan
Nutrition, Diet & Exercise
Various nutritional deficiencies can result with Neuropathy. We have a very specific protocol of nutrients that is demonstrating effectiveness with treating Neuropathy including Benfotiamine, Acetly-L-Carnitine, CoQ10, Lipoic Acid, Omegas and Vitamin D. We also offer a diet program that can help patients lose weight, reduce blood sugar and blood pressure. It is critical to create a healing biochemical environment in the body by addressing deficiencies and correcting any underlying metabolic syndrome before the body can begin healing.
Physical Therapy/Rehab
Manual Massage Techniques increase circulation and allow the muscles and connective tissue to regain their health. We use neuropathy specific techniques to warm up affected area prior to treatment so the body is more responsive to treatment.
Exercise and Rehab Therapies are important for reeducating and strengthening the affected areas as they begin to heal. Restoring proper motor function, flexibility, and coordination are necessary for complete healing and allowing the patient to be as independant as possible.
Spinal Therapy can be indicating in cases where neuropathy is compounded by disc injury and spinal degeneration that causes pressure on the spinal nerve roots. We have various advanced spinal treatments available that address these conditions.
Neuro Electrotherapy Clinically Tested Rebuilder
This treatment is comfortable and relaxing to the patient and is applied directly to the affected extremities by using a warm water bath. It has no interaction with, nor does is interfere with, any medications the patient may be taking.
Because it has a much more powerful electrical impulse than the human body, the treatment re-polarizes and re-educates the nerves to follow the correct paths. It also enables nerve impulses to jump the synaptic junction, recconnect
the injured nerve cells, and deliver minerals and nutrients which revitalized those nerves.
When this is accomplished, it promotes new nerve growth, restores blood circulation, returns feelings to the patients extermenties, and reduces pain.
In many cases, the treatment actually reverses neuropathy and chronic pain symptoms and restores nerves to their normal state allowing them to fully function on their own reducing the need for medications. |
