Fight Thyroid Problems

Thyroid problems are becoming more and more common. The thyroid is a small gland at the base of the neck that surrounds the windpipe and it goes above and below the Adam’s Apple. It generates a lot of hormones that your body needs to function correctly. The hormones help your body absorb iodine.

Hypothyroidism occurs when your body doesn’t produce enough of those necessary hormones, in particular T3 and T4. When your body doesn’t produce enough of these it can cause you gain weight, lose hair and be unable to control your body temperature well. There are medicines that you can take that can help control the hypothyroidism, and boost production or simulate the hormones. Before you get those medicines you have to be tested. To do this you have to see a doctor. The doctor will do a TSH test to check the amount of hormones in your body. Once that level has been established you can get the best treatment.

Find the doctors who know what they are doing so that you can start to feel better. You want a doctor who has done a lot of research into thyroid problems.

What are normal/abnormal levels of TSH?
What are the levels when you should take medication?
What are normal/abnormal levels of T3 and T4?
What if you have multi-nodules that are non-cancerous on your thyroid? Should I be taking medication to treat or shrink them?
My doctors are telling me all my levels are normal.
Do people that have nodules have anything in common later down the road or later in life?

    Thank you,

Patient, the story you tell is very similar to many we hear from new patients coming to our office. It’s a story where you’re going through numerous treatments and not seeing strong positive results. The reason is the cause of your problem is not being addressed. Clearly you’ve been diagnosed as having hypothyroidism since you have a TSH of 115.9. But the question that needs to be answered to get you well is ‘Why?’ Why do you have hypothyroidism? The thyroid gland doesn’t decide to just quit working on its own; there is an answer here that must be addressed.

Feel free to call us at (407) 977-3842 and set up a time to sit down for a consultation.
